Arboria—Dev Diary #6

16 March, 2021

Greetings, Yotunz!

The Mutated Machinery update is here and along with it some new, nasty Mutantz Enemies. Bulktong will try to crush you using his massive body and long tongue while Smasher will try to rip you into pieces with his pincers. Enjoy two new levels of Durnar full of enemies, secrets, and interesting places.

To help you out in these new dangerous surroundings we are adding a new Symbiont—Claw-Driver which uses the Perfect Combo mechanic that lets you perform an additional powerful attack when hitting the attack button at a specific moment. We’ve also added a new Mutation—Elemental Chains which tie together enemies to share Damage between them. Along with new Levels of Durnar, a new tier of Symbionts and Armor will be available to find and craft—Taintech. Use this new Equipment to overcome obstacles of Mutated Machinery!

In addition, Yotun’s village has a new NPC—Franky the Pet Master. Frank gives you the option to unlock a Pet. Your new little buddy will be able to help you during fights. Each Elemental variant of Pet behaves in a slightly different way, so check out all of them to find the most suitable partner for your style of combat.

We’ve also added a new Mechanic to Dungeons—Cursed Roots. Some of the Healed Roots in Durnar will now be Cursed. You can lift the curse by completing Trials. Each Trial is a different set of Modifiers that will last until you kill a set amount of enemies. For the duration of Curse, all the Veri you gather will be multiplied by the sum of modifiers. Rewards for lifting Curses are Mutagens and Essences. With this mechanic, we wanted to make traversing through already cleared levels more challenging while at the same time enabling players to gain more Mutagens to further improve their long-term odds of surviving in Durnar.
