Arboria—Dev Diary #5

29 January, 2021

Greetings, Yotunz!

The Infested Depths update is here and along with it comes a set of new Mutant Enemies. Heaver, Parasyte, and Stroller will attack you on your journey through two new levels of Durnar, making it even more challenging to survive in the depths.

To help you out in these dangerous surroundings, we’ve added a new Symbiont – Switch Hammer that can be transformed into either a heavy Hammer or a swift Sword. A new Mutation – Furious Stance will temporarily boost your stats and damage output to make tough encounters more manageable. Along with new Levels of Durnar, a new tier of Symbionts and Armor will be now available to find and craft – Plague. With these tools you will surely be able to conquer the Infested Depths!

But that’s not all! Yotun’s Village has a new NPC – Spawner. We’ve changed the order in which you unlock new NPCs a bit and Spawner is now the first unlocked NPC, available to you from the very beginning of the game. We’ve also moved some of the crucial upgrades to Spawner, like unlocking additional Hotbar Slots or Inventory Slots to make them more accessible. In addition, Spawner lets you Reroll Yotun Seeds and improve the overall stats of your randomly generated Warriors.

We’ve also added a new Mechanic to Dungeons – Yotunz’ Graves. Now you’ll be able to find the bodies of fallen Yotunz from your previous runs in the Dungeons and retrieve the Equipment that those specific Yotunz had on them at the time of their demise. But be careful, the Graves are guarded by Champions – a new enemy tier that is stronger than regular types and a bit weaker than Elites. Each Champion has a Trait that affects its Stats and Abilities. For example, the Caster Trait causes enemies to spawn a Homing Projectile every 10 seconds. Will you risk facing Champions to retrieve the Equipment of your Fallen Yotun Warriors? Let us know in the comments on Steam or join the discussion on our Discord server.
