Remote partying at All in! Games

29 May, 2020

Hi, everybody!

As you know, due to the current circumstances, the All in! Games team is working from home. We’ve been doing our meetings, job interviews, and daily work remotely. While it’s business as usual, we do miss human contact, so we’ve found the perfect solution.

Online parties!

With new people joining all the time, our team keeps growing. It’s essential that we get to know each other not only on a professional level, but on a personal one too.

Integration has been important to us since day one. Getting to know each other better and spending time together help us create a friendly atmosphere that, in turn, makes our daily work more enjoyable and easy-going. But what to do when safety concerns make it impossible to have a party? Take it online! We’ve found that it’s a great way to start your weekend in high spirits.

Our amazing HR team went the extra mile to make it all happen. Using online resources such as Google Hangouts and Zoom, the team created a main channel for everyone to hang out in and chat, a few dedicated game channels, and one speed meeting zone. Yeah, speed meeting is a thing.

Webcams were obligatory, so we could finally see all our teammates. When we go back to the office in the future, we need to be able to remember each other’s faces! Drinking and eating whatever we had at hand—what you prepare yourself is always the best, after all—we started with some relaxing catching up…and then the games began.

Speed meeting and pets over Mafia

Mafia is an exciting game where you need to identify the “killer”. There are ways to play it online, for example using this website. While we planned to play it together, it was showing each other’s pets on webcams that got everybody’s attention.

Speed meeting is an interesting take on the speed dating formula. Participants were randomly assigned 2 to a room where they had a limited time to answer some intriguing questions about their lives.

Some of the questions were:

  • If you were arrested with no explanation, what would your friends and family assume you had done?
  • Which character from cartoons/movies were you afraid of when you were a child?
  • If you could live with any characters from cartoons/movies, who would you choose?
  • If you won a trip to go anywhere on Earth, where would you go?
  • If someone asked to be your apprentice and learn all that you know, what would you teach them?

Reception

The party was especially enjoyable for new people in the team. “I got to learn about my new colleagues’ hobbies, heroes, favorite holiday destinations, and weird Kindergarten memories. Best of all, we met two cats, one bunny, and one shiny new office (via digital tour)”, says our brand manager.

In short, the party was great thanks to everyone involved. The impromptu activities and conversation questions were really engaging. We hope that the next meeting will be face-to-face, but if it’s impossible, we know the drill now.
